What is it that Daniel Radcliffe cannot do?

Just released today is the single take music video for Slow Club’s song “Beginners” and it is starring one of my (and many’s) favorite British celebrity Dan Radcliffe. I say Dan plays a rather convincing drunken and emotional mess. My other thought is what part of the entertainment industry will Dan invade next?

Also, take a look at Rupert Grint in Ed Sheeran’s music video for the song “Lego House” from last November if you have not already.

Hot Chelle Rae at Mason Day!

Last Friday (May 27th), I got to see the band Hot Chelle Rae perform for free at Mason Day (WOOT!). Not expecting anything too great, I went basically because HCR is a slightly known band and it was free. Much to my pleasant surprise, my expectations were greatly surpassed. They were actually really good.

I have little knowledge and understanding of music. In fact, many would say that my taste in music sucks. My response: Whatever (see what I did there?- If not look it up). Because I shouldn’t, I am not going to talk about musical ability and vocal skill.

To all of you “hipster” music people who are already rolling your eyes, hold on and give me a second. There is one thing I can talk about, which is stage performance. Obviously Hot Chelle Rae has stage presence, they were the only ones on stage, but it goes past that. The band is so funny and they really want to get the audience involved in the show. They brought a couple of girls on stage to rap part of their song “I Like it Like That”. They also showed off one of their first songs ever written “Emo” (it was written by Ryan Follesé and Nash Overstreet, before HCR I believe). This song is hilarious though because they are just making fun of the emo era of music. I just wish it was on ITunes. They also performed a cover of Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream and it was pretty awesome actually. It was just a fun concert to go to.

If you like HCR’s song Tonight Tonight then I am recommend that you listen to the rest of their album because you will probably like it. If you don’t like it, well you’re lame. They also have some great summer-driving-let’s-blast-the-music-in-my-car songs and who doesn’t like that?

In more exciting news, if you live in NoVa, you still have the chance to see Hot Chelle Rae perform with Demi Lovato at Wolf Trap in June. If you are interested you should get on that, well actually you can’t because the tickets are not on sale yet, but keep a look out.

Okay, I’m done.

My ears just won’t stop bleeding

Here is some “food for thought” I have been mulling over and here is a warning:

The video above may cause severe ear pain, death from laughter, and loss of brain cells.

I realize I am behind on this, I have just discovered Bravo. The song Chic, C’est la Vie was released to the world in June 2011 by The Real Housewives of New York City’s own: Countess LuAnn. This is the worst song I have ever heard. If you can even call it a song, I mean The Countess is basically just talking the entire time. Maybe she was inspired by Kim Kardashian’s big non-hit, Jam.

What does not make sense to me is how can LuAnn listen to this and think, “Wow, I just sound so great!” or “These lyrics are so meaningful and not-shallow.” It doesn’t make any sense. If I ever release a song in my life time like this, please trap me in a room with Justin Bieber and a hundred of his fans.

The point: what do Chic, C’est la Vie and Jam have in common (besides making you want to rip your eardrums out)? They are both “sung” by reality starts. They have enough money already don’t they? They embarrass themselves on national television enough as it is don’t they? Why add insult to injury? I really want to know what makes reality stars think that their sudden fame means that they also have sudden talent.

Maybe it is my fault. Well, maybe it is also your fault. It is the fault of every American who watches reality tv with complete understanding of how trashy it is. We are inflating the reality tv star’s sense of self by watching their shows. By that I mean, all of the attention Americans give to these people is undoubtedly going to their heads. We are pushing people like Countess LuAnn to believe they are something that they are not, and then we go and laugh at them. Then, awk for us, they have the last laugh all the way to the bank.

Even with all this, I do question common sense. I mean really, how could anyone think a song like Chic, C’est la Vie would make you look good?
